CAR CRASH

Alcohol & medication
why are we so bored again ?
We need relief from stress & this is our relief from stress.

We are energy, nervous energy.

This is the music scene.
We are loud and times are lean.
We jump around in desperation.
We are getting desperate.

We are loud guitars. We are fucking desperate.

She knows she has no power.
Drugs are a reason for her.
They give her a helpless feeling. Resignation is her feeling

We all are little pills, red & green little pills.

School is something some succeed at,
other ones are not like that.
They rely on little pills. They find their god in little pills.

We are gods in black. We are dust in black.

Few of are in control.
We must sweat until we're old and find a way to dull the pain
Find a way to dull the pain.

This is a cul-de-sac. We are in a cul-de-sac.

Let's get drunk into a stupor, pass out on the floor,
watch all the clubs close down, & watch all the lights go down.

I feel the breath of doom. This is a no-horse town.

GARBAGE

Dark & rainy morn, quiet on the side streets.
Early workers rising, lights against the night.
The rest of us are sleeping.
? up on the roof top.
Puddles froming on the ground.
A distant rumble sounds.

Punch a time clock, start up a cold truck.
Thermos full of coffee. Streets before the dawn.
Big city ghost town. All right all night greasy spoon.
Cops and crazies roaming. Ride through darkness morning.

Banging clanging cans and bottles smashing
Lifting dumping tons of waste each morning
Rotting stinking food unused for eating
???? Machine mouth opens hungrily

Residential silence shattered. Window rattle, bleating
Dogs begin to bark. Angry sleepers open wide
Cats go under bed. Quickly move from house to house
Small can into large, dump large can into garbage barge.

HELENA IS A SPY

When I was born, I was young.
I had two legs. I had two lungs.
I would cry when I was mad,
giggle and drool when I was sad.

I had a mom. I had a dad.
I had a grandmother, and brothers, too.
I had a dog. I had a cat.
You could say we were one happy family.

When I was young, my life was fun.
I'd play out in the yard.
My mom would cook my food and clean my clothes.
I'd watch TV and go to bed.

When I grew up, I had to go to school
and learn what they called the golden rule.
I had to learn to dress just right, or
heaven forbid, I'd be the fool.

Now I'm grown up, and things are tough.
I had to find myself a job.
I have to clean my own clothes and cook my own food.
Sometimes the pressure gets too much.

When I was young, and I'd fall down,
my mom would clean and kiss my sores.
It felt so good. Yes, I was glad
to know that someone was around.

I'm older now. I'm on my own.
My family's moved away.
When I fall down, and I get hurt
I have have to clean my own dirt.

OIL

They find it in the ground
You put it in your car
so you can drive away
so you can go so far.

It's rude when it's crude
and when they kill for it
It's nasty filthy stuff
you get your fill of it

You put it in your car
so you can drive away
You don't wanna walk
cause you think it's too far.

They find it in the ground
We'll use it up for sure
and when the oil's all gone,
we'll find another cure

We'll find a cure for us
They'll find a cure for us
to send us on our way
to face our busy day.

STIHL DE NACHT
(from a Polish Resistance song)

Silence. Starry night.
Frost crackling, fine as sand.
Remember, I taught you :
hold a gun in your hand

In jacket, beret, clutching grenade
A woman, skin velvet
ambushes a train.

Aim fire, shoot and hit
she with her pistol small
halts an autoful, Nazis all.

Morning from the wood,
in her hair snow flower
Proud of her victory
for the free generation !

TOUGH GUY IN THE LAB

Tough guy in the lab,
battling the test tubes.
Tough in the lab
manipulates the genes.

Hard-nosed, mean, and ornery,
he's building a new world.
Old man sees the modern age
as weakened and absurd.

Eats his with white rats.
Sleeps upon the floor.
Doesn't cut his toenails,
and won't walk out the door.

Hasn't left in ten years.
The government pays his bills.
Building a new master race
that smiles when it kills.

Tough guy in the lab,
battling the test tubes.
Tough in the lab
manipulates the genes.

Hard-nosed, mean, and ornery,
he's building a new world.
Old man sees the modern age
as weakened and absurd.

The project is top secret.
The Pentagon is mum.
Rumors leaking to the press
are stamped out one by one.

X

Come into the room, stand by the wall.
I want to see you by the light of the fire.
You've been gone for a long time.

Walk in, sit in the chair.
Tell me what is there that's important to you.

Like what you see when you are dreaming.

It doesn't matter that you've been gone.
It doesn't matter that it's been so long.
We know each other, it goes back a long time.

I won't say I don't know you anymore.
I can't ignore knocking at my door.
Some things, they last forever.

Like wind and sand.

Don't scream, don't shout.
Throw all those old ghosts out.
Don't be afraid, it's not like dreaming.

Walk into the room, lie on the bed.
The journey's been hard and you've been gone for a long time.
But now you're back.

A migrant bird's song.

Don't you worry.
